Fortress Investment Group was the first firm of its kind to have an initial public offer. Although the company has only been around for 20 years in that time it has managed to become a globally recognized investment and asset management company. The company currently manages up to 43 billion in the asset for its 1750 investors. It was established by Randal Nardone, Wesley Edens & Rob Kauffman. Rob Kauffman however left in 2012 to pursue his interest in race car driving. He is the founder and owner of RK Motor Charlotte.
Randal Nardone began his career at a law firm being the holder of a J.D degree from Boston University’s law school. He served as a partner as well as being a member of the executive committee at Thatcher, Proffitt & Wood. from there he went on to work at BlackRock Financial Management in the position of Principal after which he joined UBS where he held the position of Managing Director. He has served and still serves on various boards including Seacastle, Inc., Eurocastle Investment Ltd., Florida East Coast Railway Corp., Springleaf REIT as well as Fortress Investment Group LLC and more
Randal Nardone serves as a principal and CEO at Fortress investment group along with Peter Briger and Wes Edens. When the firm was acquired by Softbank, they made it clear that the move was going to make the company more global. Currently, Randal Nardone works with Wes Edens running the Private Equity division of Fortress Investment which focuses on control-oriented investments in North America, Western Europe as well as the Caribbean from which they generate revenue.

The company’s largest holdings include New Fortress Energy, Brookdale Senior Living, Florida East Coast Railway, Nationstar Mortgage Holdings, Holiday Retirement, Global Signal, and One Main Holdings
